Maltby’s is noted for fine bindings, specially commissioned for private collections, presentation copies, limited editions and personal libraries.

Full, half and quarter leather bindings are available, using calf or goat skin. Linen or marbled boards are also available. Text is laced-in with a hollow back and spines can have raised bands.

Gold leaf and/or blind tooling can be applied in simple or elaborate styles to the client’s wishes. Maltby’s has an extensive range of hand tools and type fonts to suit the various styles of books produced.

Book blocks can be gilded on one, two or three edges. Spine labels are also available as are silver and coloured foils.
